At the Mexica Community Center, education is more than academics, it's about building confidence, discipline, and the belief that every young person is capable of shaping their own future.
Through tutoring and mentorship groups, participants receive academic support while also developing the life skills, leadership, and personal accountability needed to succeed beyond the classroom. The goal of our Education pillar is not simply academic improvement, it is preparing young people to step confidently into leadership roles within their families, schools, and communities. By strengthening both knowledge and character, we help participants develop the tools they need to pursue their goals and build meaningful, successful futures.
Our tutoring program provides students with a space to work on homework, prepare for exams, and strengthen foundational academic skills. Mentors and volunteers work alongside students to help them stay organized, build effective study habits, and approach academic challenges with confidence. Tutoring sessions are designed to support students across a variety of subjects while reinforcing the importance of persistence and personal responsibility.
Strong mentorship is at the heart of our Education pillar. Participants meet regularly in mentorship groups divided into two cohorts, one for boys and one for girls, creating spaces where they can speak openly, learn from mentors, and build lasting connections with their peers.
These groups meet regularly with mentors to discuss topics such as goal-setting, leadership, character development, and navigating real-life challenges. Through honest conversations and shared experiences, participants gain guidance from positive role models while supporting one another as they grow.
If you are interested in volunteering as a tutor, mentoring youth, or supporting our Education programs, we invite you to connect with us! Together, we can help the next generation grow into strong, confident leaders of our community.
